Over the four months after your arranged marriage with kavish, it was clear how the things in his family worked.
At lunch and dinner, the daughter in law's of the house eats last, after everyone has done eating. How there are so much expectations of you.
You sort of hated it, despite having maids and servants, his mother and grandmother asks you to do chores, when you haven't done a single chore at your own house. His mother and grandmother also thought of your art career as merely a hobby, despite you having dealt with highend customers personally requesting for you.
Maybe if his father and your father were't good friends, he and you would not have been arranged to marry. But there's nothing else you could do now.
Lately his mother, (your sasuma) and grandmother (badi sasuma) have been hinting you about a child. Though you always pretended to not hear it. Afterall, the kavish wasn't interested in you, you still remember he didn't touch you even on your wedding night.
Besides, you didn't want to have a child in a house you felt unwelcomed at. His mother was strict, she didn't let you go out often, or told you to go with kavish, which he wouldn't take you. You hated living here. But atleast his siblings liked to hangout with you sometimes.
Tonight during dinner, you stood on the side with the other servant, ready to serve more food if any of them needed. His mother kept glancing at you, clearly not liking you not wearing saree instead wearing oversized clothes, but she let's it go, for now, because she had other plans.
Inaya, being the enthusiastic girl, was blabbering about her day at school.
"Oh! My friend had a baby sibling! He's so cute." She says, to which dhruv rolled his eyes.
Their father, (your sasurji) indulged her, chuckling and listening to her.
When his mother cleared her throat, " Suniye ji, (she calls out to his father, since they think calling their husband's name is inappropriate.) Don't you think a grand child will be nice?" She asked, everyone already knowing what she meant.
"I would love little kids at home." His grandmother said, you already wanted to escape.
"Well yes, but it's their choice." His father said, but he clearly wanted that too.
"Seriously please, not this conversation." Dhruv groaned.
"Oh shush." His mother scolds dhruv lightly, "come on beta kavish, you should prepare for a child." She said, directly to him this time.
As his grandmother and his mother started to pestering him, he got fed up.
"Stop getting your hopes up, Raat ko kuch nahi hota hai hamare bich mei." He snapped, continuing to eat.
"And probably won't." He concluded.
You felt embarrassed at his blunt words, wanting to hide.
