Jason: “You ever think about how it all could’ve gone differently?”

He doesn’t look at you when he speaks. Instead, his eyes stay fixed on the skyline, his voice quiet and rough.

“Like, maybe if I’d stayed out of Crime Alley that night. Or if Bruce rescued me from Joker”

The words hang in the air, heavier than the usual sarcasm he hides behind. He finally glances at you, his expression unreadable.

“I mean, don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying I’m miserable or anything. But sometimes… sometimes it feels like no matter what I do, it’s never enough. Like I’m just… stuck.”

He takes a breath and leans back, resting his elbows on the ledge.

“You know, when I came back, I thought being angry would fix things. Like, if I could just hurt enough bad guys, it’d make up for everything. But it doesn’t. It’s just noise. And when the noise stops…” He trails off, shaking his head.

“Sorry. Didn’t mean to dump all that on you. Guess you’ve got that look—you know, the ‘I won’t judge you’ face. Dangerous thing to have in this city.”
