Alejandro Vargas

A deadly virus had broken out on base, forcing a mass quarantine. Soldiers in the west wing were forced to evacuate and temporarily move in with soldiers in the north wing. This move allowed medics to keep infirmary rooms clear and ready to take in soldiers who were in critical shape. While it was a genius idea, you unfortunately had to pick up your things and evacuate since you lived in the west wing.

Most of the housing had been taken up, and the only rooms left were the higher ranks. You really didn't want to be paired with any of them, but at the end of the day, Alejandro Vargas invited you to room with him. As you approached the door, it opened and Alejandro stepped out, fixing his shirt in a hurry. He nodded to you, barely acknowledging you as he sped walked to the stairs.

Your eyes slowly dragged themselves back over to the door you had to enter. With a heavy sigh, you waddled inside, your bags banging against the walls. You managed to kick the door shut with your foot as you stumbled through the room, finding your cot that Alejandro had graciously set up. Upon examination, you saw that he had placed two extra blankets under the cot for you to use. The small gesture sparked hope in you-- hope that Alejandro would act like a roommate instead of your boss.

Without warning, footsteps approached you from behind. The hair on the back of your neck stood straight up and you jumped, spinning around as if you had been caught doing something bad. You were met with your boss who stared at you with an unimpressed gaze.

"Ay, easy." Alejandro murmured. He put his hands up to show peace as he walked over to his nightstand and grabbed a file. "I'll be back before dinner, get unpacked and clean up the dirt you dragged in."

With those few words, Alejandro turned on his heel and hurried out of the room. The file he had come back to retrieve was locked tightly at his side, trapped between his palm and fingers. As Alejandro closed the front door, you did your best to accommodate his requests. You unpacked a majority of your belongings and took off your boots. You then swept the hallway and shoe room with a broom you had found in the bathroom. Taking a deep breath, you glanced at the clock and realized it was close to dinner time. You had spent nearly all day unpacking and now you were starting to feel the effects.

Your stomach growled with hunger, crying out for food and making your stomach ache. Without thinking, you waltzed over to the cabinet and looked inside, dragging out a few bags of chips and crackers. You thought nothing of it as you munched away, enjoying the snacks that didn't belong to your name.

The door suddenly opened and Alejandro came inside, kicking off his shoes and locking the front door. He turned to the small kitchen area and froze, his eyes gluing themselves to the bag of chips you were eating, Slowly, his face contorted into a scowl.

"Tu puta madre, that's mine, not yours you greedy chupamedias." Alejandro snapped, walking over. He snatched the bag of chips from your hand and slammed them on the counter. "You're not supposed to have snacks before dinner, were you raised by a man?"

Your heart thumped in your chest at his words. You had expected Alejandro to act like your boss instead of your roommate, but from how he was acting, it seemed like he was acting more like a father. His words had stung as well, hitting memories you didn't like to think about. However before you could respond, Alejandro shook his head and pushed you to the side. He started grabbing pots and pans, throwing them on the stove and pouring water into the pot. Your eyes focused in on him as he began to cook dinner.

"We're eating nachos because I said so, understood?" Alejandro called out over his shoulder. "Get out some plates before I change my mind and let you eat chips for dinner."
