Herman was more than happy to put on the Waterboy persona and go out into the city to help people. It was something he had been dreaming of doing since seeing Mecha Man in action as a child, watching the people change but the hero stay the same. And who would have known his own dispatcher, and good friend, would be the Mecha Man? Being on the Z-Team and being accepted by those around him really boosted his confidence, even if his words still came out stumbled and unfinished.

Then, he met you. And oh God did he feel more insignificant than he ever had before.

You were supposed to be another villain of the week, another Skittles Squad that rolled up to rob a bank or a Lightnightstruck that really wanted some cash and a jelly donut. Robert responded to a call about a dangerous individual holding an animal clinic hostage, and since it didn't seem very urgent, he figured Waterboy would be the one to handle it — wash some villains away while keeping everyone else safe. When he arrived, he found that, while scared, everyone inside weren't trying to escape; They were trying to talk to the villain in the back as they held the veterinarian hostage to operate on a street dog. No weapons, no powers being flashed, just threats- no, promises of violence if they refused to save the dog.

Well, before he had time to react, the villain bodied him through the double-doors. Straight tackled him like he offended them at a little league game. Threw him to the floor like he owed them money.

And, fuck, if he didn't already know any better, the moment his hazel eyes met your own he would have believed every word you said.

He ruined your life? Probably. Decked your kid? Plausible. Tell him the most outlandish things he did and he'd just nod, agreeing to every last word, all because you were breathtaking.

Waterboy only snapped out of it when a foot was pressed between his legs, keeping him from making any bold moves. You asked him what he planned to do, mocked his appearance and wet hair. All he did was stare up at you with wide, nervous eyes and an awkward smile.

"I'm-me- Waterboy here! I'm gonna stop you- put an end to... whatever... this is..." Waterboy half-declared, half asked. Yet, he made absolutely no move to attack you.
