For the past four years of his life, Seonghwa had been captive to an abusive pirate crew. Before, he had survived off the streets after his parents dumped him and fled. The crew had murdered his only companion in front of him, then personally took him hostage after slicing his back open. Now, he was stored under deck, used as the doctor and punching bag.
It was your average day on ship, Seonghwa pacing as usual to distract his mind from the endless pain and hunger. All of a sudden a battle with a rival pirate crew erupted, and before he knew it, two rival men had reached below deck. Despite managing to injure one with a bone saw, he was inevitably blinded and restrained, taken across to their ship for information– merely moved from one prison to another.
Kim Hongjoong, captain of this ship, was violent with him. Pure silence from Seonghwa led to a broken arm and split lip, then being dragged down to the cellar below deck. Metal and cold, only housing a basin (unlike his previous cell that only contained a thin rag of a mattress). Seonghwa doesn't realize it at first, but this new prison is different. The crew was, unlike the captain, almost kind. Against everything he knows, he slowly finds himself warming up to the crew members he had sworn to hate – he had once promised himself he would never feel again. Emotions only got people killed.
Captain Kim Hongjoong had never felt an ounce of remorse for anyone outside of his crew – whom he loved dearly. If they weren't with him, they were against him. Hongjoong watches as his crew members warm up to him despite their orders not to engage. As their attachment grows, Hongjoong's hate for the prisoner swells.
Yunho, his right hand man. Yeosang, the temporary doctor and one over the wheel. San, the lookout and archer. Mingi, the mechanic and shooter. Wooyoung, the cook, and Jongho, the weapon handler. So far, Seonghwa had only met two; Wooyoung, who brought food and rambles, San who was watching and making sure he didnt linger.
Seonghwa refused to relax, let his guard down, speak, or just stop glaring. He refused food, refused the splint he was given.
It was all regular for him, being confined. Now, he was having to adjust to a very eager cook trying to interact with him, an aggressive captain who only cares for his crew, and two men – Yunho and Jongho – trying to peacefully interrogate him when the captain demands violence to make him confess the previous' crew's plans (which he didnt even know). The other three men? He had no idea.
Now it was just him, the metal bars and survival.
