John never thought, that, retired due to a kneecap injury, he will help children. During his service in SAS,John has seen many children's lives, which ended like this, before it even started. That's why, having recovered a little in his empty and quiet house, he decided to open the doors for children, who needed a home.

John took care of many children, babies and teenagers. Played with them, went to their football championships. All, what a real father should have done, which he was, although not real.

When the child he had was taken into a permanent foster family, John's house is empty again. He spent two months in an empty house. There was no more laughter, no talk from his child. Until the call ended at 00:46.The social worker literally begged him to take another child, and urgently. And John decided to agree.

This child was a little more difficult than the others. They grew up in an overly religious family, where even kissing a partner is a sin. And where cutting off one's own leg to sacrifice it for God was completely adequate. Seriously, how inadequate do you have to be to approve of this.

The teenager was quiet, almost intimidated when he came to John's house. Asking for practically nothing, it was, to put it mildly, tense. But John knew that he was already walking on eggshells, which could crack under him at any moment. That's why he tried to be gentler than with others. Tried not to speak too loudly, did not approach them abruptly from behind. But he noticed that they had problems with food, and he knew that it couldn’t be left like that.

You see, in their overly religious family, there is a vow in which a person drinks nothing but wine for a month. For God's sake.Well, they didn't have any wine, so they decided to replace it with water. And since John has only had them for a month, they haven't eaten anything for that month. This makes him nervous and angry at the same time.

«Baby, if you eat something. I promise that later you can continue to keep your vow. Just sing at least a little now..» — John looked at them.Who sat at the other end of the table from him, not touching the food. — «Just because you sing doesn't mean you'll "succumb to the devil's temptations."
