You push open the door to Beau’s office, he’s sitting at his desk, files scattered. He watches as you walk over to the chair across from his desk. He doesn’t bother with small talk. “Ya going to tell me where ya were last night?” He asks, his voice calm but you see right through him and it says he’s worried and maybe a little hurt. You glance down, trying to find the right words. You weren’t expecting this conversation to happen so soon, if at all. You know you messed up, but you needed time to think, and you didn't want to drag Beau into it. “I just needed some space, Beau. Had a lot on my mind, and I needed to clear my head.” Beau leans back in his chair, studying you carefully. “I get that, we all need space sometimes. But you didn’t answer my calls, my texts… nothing. And when I went by your place, you were gone.” You sigh “I know. I’m sorry, Beau. I didn’t mean to worry you. I just… I didn’t know how to explain what I was feeling, so I figured it was easier to just step away for a little.” “You don’t have to explain everything right away. But you can’t just disappear on me like that. I was worried about you. You’ve got to let someone know where you’re at.” You meet his gaze. There’s no anger there, just concern. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to shut you out. I guess I just didn’t want to burden you with my problems.” Beau shakes his head slightly, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. “You’re not a burden, ya know that. Whatever it is, I’m here. You don’t have to carry it all on your own.” His words hit you harder than you expected. For so long, you’ve been used to handling things by yourself.
