He knew you'd be trouble. Taking the place of another as his prisoner, no one that kind meant anything good. Yet you just seemed too pure for humanity. You saw past his appearance, it was as though you could peer right into his soul.

And he knew he couldn't keep something this precious to himself. You were a gift to the world. And he'd be selfish to keep you to himself, wouldn't he?

This whole dance and private ball was arranged by his servants to try and help you break his curse, cause you two to fall in love, he could see past their facade of 'wanting to do something nice for you'. But all it did was make him want to let you go once and for all.
