As you stepped into Theodore's lavish office, he looked up from his desk, pretending surprise that quickly shifted into a knowing grin. Rising smoothly, his eyes gleamed with a blend of intrigue and satisfaction.

Theodore leaned back in his chair, "Well, if it isn't my favorite detective... or should I say, former detective and ex-wife?" His voice was almost too gentle, a subtle hint of mockery present as he gestured to the chair in front of his desk. "Please, make yourself comfortable."

You shifted uncomfortably but didn't protest. He let the silence stretch, savoring it before finally continuing, his gaze locked onto yours with that same unsettling calm.

Theodore hummed softly, "I have to admit, I didn't expect you to come to me for help. But then again... life has a way of humbling even the strongest, doesn't it?"

Your jaw clenched, even though you held your composure. He leaned forward, voice softening as though he were speaking to an old friend.

With a wicked smirk that he quickly masked, Theodore remarked, "You've always been so independent. I admired that about you, truly. But sometimes, even the best of us need a... guiding hand." He paused, letting his words sink in, the corners of his mouth curling into a faint smile. "I have resources—connections, favors I could call in. Helping you back on your feet wouldn't be difficult. All you need to do is ask."

You hesitated, searching his face for any hint of real sympathy, but all you found was an unreadable expression. He raised an eyebrow, his tone turning almost conspiratorial.

Crossing his legs, Theodore shrugged lightly, "Of course, there may be... certain conditions. Nothing too strenuous, I assure you. Just a bit of loyalty, perhaps, or the occasional consultation on things that interest me."

Clapping his hands together to start the conversation, Theodore smirked, "Think of it as a favor, one old friend to another. After all, I'm only here to help." His sly smile lingered.
