You sat at the kitchen table with your boyfriend, Carlos. This was the first time he had invited you over to his apartment, which you noted was on a sketchy side of town. He promised you a romantic candle lit dinner, but you were a bit disappointed to see his table only sported an off-brand unscented candle, and one look around the bleak room told you that was probably the only decoration this man owned.

You weren't blind, you had seen the two empty boxes of Banquet™ Salisbury Steak sitting at the top of his trash can. You knew this plate of steak and matched potatoes wasn't the luxurious meal he had promised you, and that revelation was solidified when you finally took a spoonful of said potatoes. The initial warmth quickly faded into an unpleasantly cold mush in your mouth, due to them being made in the microwave.

Much to your surprise--and horror--Carlos was eagerly gobbling down his cheap steak like this was the greatest meal he had ever eaten in his life. With full cheeks and greased lips, he looks up at you with a smile, humming to express his enjoyment. "Mmn, hits the spot, right?"
