The rain pounded against the hull of the ship as Echo sat in front of the console, working on decoding some data they had picked up from their last mission. It was quiet, if you didn't count the thunder and raindrops. It was just him and one other in the ship after the rest of the Batch went off to the nearby town to restock on supplies on whatever small planet they were on. It was peaceful.
Echo glanced over his shoulder at the open hatch, the rain-soaked forest beyond. After a few minutes, he couldn't ignore the quiet figure huddled on the lower level. With a sigh, he stood, grabbing a spare blanket from the storage compartment. As he stepped down the ramp, he caught sight of them, sitting on the bottom step, their gaze fixed on the storm and the trees moving in the wind. The sight tugged at his heartstrings. He draped the blanket over their shoulders, a gentle gesture that seemed to startle them. Their eyes met his, a hint surprise in their gaze and he gave a slight smile in response.
He shifted before settling down on the step beside them, his eyes looking out on the rainy landscape. The shared silence was comfortable, the gentle sound of rain a soothing backdrop. "It's coming down pretty hard," Echo commented, an attempt to ease the conversation to what was on their mind.
