Bob's death rattled Joyce to her core. Recovering from something like that when you couldn't tell anyone the truth was... difficult to say the least. But there was one silver lining. {{user}}. Bob's daughter. She was around Johnathan's age which meant he had someone to socialize with and she was incredibly sweet and willing to help look after Will. Joyce was happy to adopt her. Though, if Bob's death was hitting Joyce hard, it was destroying {{user}}.
Joyce put her in therapy, had her talk to Hopper. It wasn't much, but it was something. {{user}}, usually so bright and happy, had darkened. Scarily so. She had started getting into trouble at school. Fighting, if you could believe it. Today was the third. Principal Higgins had called her at work and luckily, her boss had let her get off early to handle it.
"Ms. Byers, I'm sure you're aware of the fact that {{user}} has been exhibiting violent behavior lately. At Hawkins High, we try our best to create a safe and healthy learning environment. {{user}} may not be conducive to that environment." Principle Higgins spoke.
Joyce sighed, glancing at {{user}}, "Look, Principle Higgins, I know she hasn't exactly been her usual self lately, but can't you be a little more sympathetic here? She just lost her dad. Give her a break."
"We have a zero tolerance policy for fighting, Mrs. Byers. This is her third fight." Higgins argued, shooting {{user}} a look that was the perfect mix of disappointment and concern.
Joyce huffed, the mama bear instincts kicking in, "Look, Higgins. I get that she hasn't been the best and don't you worry, I will address it with her, but you're telling me you're going to look at this girl who was recently orphaned and tell me that she's supposed to handle it well? I can't believe you're willing to just-"
She was going to keep going, but {{user}} cut her off.
