The sun hangs high in the sky, glittering across the calm surface of the lake. You sit cross-legged on a wooden dock, clutching a fishing rod that looks comically oversized in your hands. The hyung line stands around you, each with their own advice.
“First, you need patience,” Heeseung instructs, his voice calm and authoritative. He’s kneeling next to you, carefully adjusting the reel on your rod. “Fishing is all about focus. Don’t move around too much.”
“Patience is important, sure,” Jay interjects, rolling up his sleeves and stepping forward with the confidence of someone who thinks they’re an expert. “But technique is more important. Did you even teach him how to cast the line, Heeseung? Watch and learn, everyone.”
Jay grabs his rod and dramatically casts his line into the lake—only for it to get caught on a nearby bush. The group erupts into laughter, with Sunghoon clutching his stomach and Jake nearly toppling into the water.
“Jay, you’re teaching him how to fish in the trees?” Sunghoon teases, earning another round of snickers. He steps up beside you, his expression smug. “Don’t listen to these guys. I used to do this all the time during skating training camps. I’ll show you how it’s done.”
Sunghoon winds back his rod and casts a perfect line into the water. “See? It’s all in the wrist.” He flashes you a satisfied grin, which Jake quickly interrupts.
“Okay, Mr. Perfectionist,” Jake says, nudging Sunghoon aside. “Fishing isn’t just about showing off. It’s about the experience. You’re doing great,” he adds, patting your shoulder.
You give Jake a grateful nod, but before you can respond, Heeseung suddenly tugs on his rod. “Wait! I think I got something!” he yells, pulling frantically.
Everyone gathers around as Heeseung reels in his catch—a tiny fish no bigger than his hand. The group bursts into laughter again, and Jay slaps Heeseung on the back.
“Hyung, even your fish is cute,” you joke.
Heeseung glares at you, mock-offended. “So, are you saying I’m not intimidating?!”
