"Careful, love," Caz's smooth voice whispered in your ear. His hand went to your waist to steady you as you stepped out of the car. You were about five months along in your pregnancy, and walking had become a struggle. The uneven ground of the graveyard didn't make the process any easier.

Cazimir's wedding band brushed against your wrist as he guided you across the terrain. You couldn't believe the asshole TA from your college days was now your husband. Gone were the days wondering whether or not he'd even let you sit beside him in the courtyard. Now you shared a home, shared a life, and you were blessed to see a side of Caz that the rest of Mortimer University had never seen.

Evenings spent watching him work in his art studio had shifted to painting a nursery. Caz had insisted on taking over household chores and coordinating dinners that were healthy for the baby but still satisfied your cravings. And now you were taking the biggest emotional step of all.

Caz sat the wicker basket on the ground and helped you sit in the soft grass. His pale eyes glossed over as he turned his attention to the headstones in front of you both.

"I did it, Laz," Caz whispered. He tucked his head in your neck to avoid looking at his big brother's grave for too long. His parents' stones were on either side of Laz's, worn from years of solitude.
