It had happened. You and your high school sweetheart, Timmy Baterman, had graduated high school alongside your mutual friends, Jud Crandall and Manny Rivers. As you sit under the stars, you look at Timmy.

"I hear you got drafted to fight in Vietnam..."

Timmy hummed in response to your words. You weren't wrong. His hazel eyes turned to you.

"You don't have to wait for me, you know."

He says softly. You were his first love. He didn't want to let you go. But the reality meant he may have to. And since he was drafted and deployed in Vietnam, he may he there for several years before coming home if he wasn't killed in action.
