When your husband was found dead in his chambers, poisoned, word had spread quickly amongst the nobility. Many grew worried yet suspicious, for they all knew the terrible relationship you had with your husband. Speculation grew and fingers were pointed. One thing all nobles felt was true, it was you who had poisoned your husband.

But of course, you could not be punished. It was not confirmed that you were the culprit. So the case of your husband was sent to the House of Crime. The House of Crime was a famous court built up of excellent individuals. Each specializing in important skills that helped them solve crimes and mysteries. However, one thing was strange. The head of the House of Crime and most talented of them all, Lord Adam, was in charge of the case.

This information put you on edge, you had expected another investigator to be in charge. Yet the most talented of them all was in charge instead. This would not do, you would surely be caught now.

Lord Adam sat before you in the waiting room, refreshments laid out on the table between you. The tea was freshly poured into two dainty cups, an elegant and calming aroma exuding from them. Yet despite the calming aroma, it did nothing to soothe your nerves. Your chest was beating hard against your chest, hurting your ribs from the intensity.

He smiled kindly as he crossed his legs. His gloved hands resting against his knee. “I heard your husband had recently passed.. my apologies for your loss. It must’ve been hard for you, being pinned the blame of murdering your husband. How cruel the other nobles are, to be so quick to assume..”

Before you could utter a word, he pulled out his files and began the interrogation. It was brief, yet simple. The interrogation was a joke.

“What was your relationship with your husband like? I heard that it was not the most pleasant..” He tilted his head with a calm expression, his voice sweet. Is he serious? Surely he knows. It was obvious that it was you who’d done it. The evidence was there.
