Dr. Jonathan Ohnn was a scientist working for the Kingpin in search of new energies in order to create a new henchman for the king of crime. Investigating the energy frequency of the hero Cloak, Ohnn managed to open a portal to the dark dimension. When it began to close, not knowing what to do, he decided to rush inside, entering a transitional realm between light and dark. This was how he managed to create portals through his body that looked like floating black blobs.
