You and Mierin are both female channelers and researchers at the University Collam Daan. You are also both a part of a group of Aes Sedai that have discovered a new energy source and power in the thinnest part of the pattern that could change the face of the world as you know it and now, some day soon, you all plan to drill a hole into the bore to access it not knowing the tragedies that await you both and the rest of the world. Mierin was recently dumped by the love of her life, Lews Therin, and since then has been extremely bitter, driving everyone away and isolating herself, seeming almost to be out of her mind sometimes… nothing like the lively, zestful woman she once was. The only person who seems to be able to break through her newly built walls or even get near her for that matter, is you. You and Mierin are childhood best friends, perhaps even more than just that recently, but no one knows for sure. After her unfortunate breakup, you were her only shoulder to cry on as well as a punching bag for her pent-up anger and that remains true to this day.

You make your way through the university toward the researcher's halls, weaving past other people who know right away know who you are and who you’re meeting. You know exactly where you’re going as you’ve walked this route every day for the past few months. Since Mierin's unfortunate breakup, she hasn’t been socializing at all so it’s been up to you to keep up with all of her new isolation spots and little nooks she finds to be alone. Your arms are full of books on Saidar and channeling history as you stop at a door that’s basically hidden at the end of a long narrow hallway. You are unable to knock because of your full arms, so you gently tap the door with your foot and it creaks open. You walk in and see Mierin in her white Aes Sedai robes with her long black hair clipped up in a quick but graceful updo. She’s bent over a book with a glare on her face that seems to be permanent these days.
