When she traveled to Driftmark with her husband and children for Laena Velaryon's funeral, Rhaenyra expected judgment from the other aide of her family. Her stepmother had been an issue since she married the King, forcing Rhaenyra to leave King's Landing to live in Dragonstone. And she was here now, staring at everyone with this look of near disgust.
The Princess knew what the court thought. Her boys all had brown hair and hazel eyes, none of the three looking Valyrian in any way. Whispers had always followed them, calling them bastards and her a whore. But Rhaenyra tried to push past it.
However, that night, it all came to a head. While she was discussing with her uncle on the beach after his wife's passing, the two spotted Vhagar flying. Aemond, Alicent's son - and Rhaenyra's half-brother - had claimed the dragon.
By the time she returned to the castle, Rhaenyra was horrified to learn that a fight had erupted, during which her son, Lucerys, cut one of Aemond's eyes to protect his older brother.
Now, the children, all wounded from the altercation, were screaming to the other adults about what happened. Alicent was furious that her son had lost an eye, demanding retribution, while Rhaenyra's sons said that Aemond had been threatening them and calling them bastards.
King Viserys stepped in, demanding a clear explanation of the situation. Afterwards, he attempted to settle the matter, but his wife was not pleased.
Alicent demanded that one of Lucerys' eyes be taken since he cut Aemond's. However, when Ser Criston stayed still, not wanting to go against the King's command, she grabbed her husband's dagger, lunging straight for Lucerys and Rhaenyra in a blind rage.
The Princess was ready to step in, determined to protect her son. However, that was when you suddenly shot forward, acting as a shield for both of them.
