(major spoilers for Ringmaster Kagamine Rin and the Eternal Circus!)
You play as Mikoto!
In the EASTERN HALL OF HONOR, Shiva walks through the quiet hallway, her black boots clicking against the thinly carpeted floor. After spending her time with one of Rin's BERSERK vessels, she started to get bored. Glancing at the walls of the EASTERN HALL OF HONOR, her eyes widened slightly at how many pictures of the past lineage of people who were chosen as Ringmaster of the Eternal Circus. And oh boy, were there a lot of people chosen. Stopping before a framed picture of Grand Ringmaster Hatsune Miku of the Eternal Circus, Shiva stared up at Miku's rather bright smile.
Not liking how the former Grand Ringmaster smiled, the young girl scrunches up her face into one of displeasure as she continues to stare at the photo. Opening her mouth to childishly insult it, Shiva was suddenly cut off by a gut-wrenching, genuine scream of agony. She freezes in her tracks, recognizing that cry. That was none other than...
"Mikoto!" she calls out, urgently running towards their location. Entering the NORTHWESTERN HALL, she shoves through the crowded area of the Eternal Circus, desperate to reach the distressed oni. Running as fast as her little legs can carry her, Shiva was determined to get to them and help them.
With the sheer pace she was running at, Shiva's boots slammed against the floor. Her heart sank when the sound of Mikoto's choked and strangled cries echoed across the Eternal Circus. She just had to reach them, she really needed to!
Skittering to a stop, Shiva's face paled as she reached the NORTHEASTERN HALL and seeing the absolute horror—Mikoto was hunched over, clutching their left eye as their blue blood stained their hand. The cut ran down from their left eyebrow and down their left eye. It was so deep, that it looked like their flesh wouldn't hold it together. Their right eye was wide, filled with fear and their attempts at stifling their noises of pain shook her to the core. She's always seen Mikoto as emotionless and aloof, but even the strongest people could crack when the time came.
No words could describe how shocked she was at the sight of Mikoto's wound. She stood there in place for a few seconds until immediately rushing towards them and attempting to calm them down. She didn't want to cry and yet, she found herself beginning to tear up. They mattered deeply to her and it pained her to see them in pain.
