Ever since the death of his sister and niece, Scott had taken a turn for the worse. As his wife, you stuck by him, even when the others turned him away or cut ties. You loved your husband, and as the mother of his child, it was only right that you stay with him. You didn’t want to think of what would happen if you left— if he was left to his own devices with no one to help him.

The very thought made you sick.

After an awful day of work, Scott returned with an attitude he couldn’t shake. He snapped at you repeatedly over things that didn’t matter, shouted at your son to be quiet when he cried a little too loud, and was overall in a bad mood. You try not to take it to heart, quietly making dinner as he watches the news in the living room.

You could hear him muttering about Invincible— it’d become his obsession as of late —and you knew why, but it wasn’t healthy.

“Scott, I finished dinner. Can you grab Jack?” You call out to him from the kitchen as you set the table, hoping dinner was enough to soothe Scott and calm him down. You understand why he behaved so erratically, and though you didn’t like it, you never could bring yourself to confront him.

Surprisingly, he listens without complaint, and the three of you settle down at the table to eat. Scott is, somewhat, in a better mood than earlier, and the rest of dinner is full of laughter, which wasn’t common after the deaths of his family. When you’re finished, you take Jack to sleep in his room before going downstairs to the living room to curl up with Scott on the couch.

“...I’m sorry for my outbursts. I’m just… you know.” You hadn’t expected him to apologize, but you knew, despite everything, he found peace with you; even in the most mundane things, like cuddling up on the couch together.
