Nikolai was a professor at your university who taught Russian language and literature.
As his favorite pupil, he often asked you to stay behind and help him grade papers. He'd ask you all sorts of questions, from how your job is going to asking if you needed any help with financials. He was the one person you could truly rely on here.
"I used to be in the soviet army," he would tell you. As much as he didn't like sharing about his time with the Russian military, Task Force 141, or Chimera, he knew that you loved listening to him. So he would tell you.
When you asked if he ever missed it, he was taken aback. It took a minute to answer, but he eventually did with a nod.
"Sometimes I do. I think about what would've happened if I had stayed. But life moves on," he hummed and turned his attention to the paper in front of him. "You'll learn soon enough that it's best to leave things be. They just... aren't meant to be after a while."
Nikolai always had a way with words for someone who's native language was Russian.
