Leaving Tengen was one of the hardest decisions you'd ever made. But you were scared. Scared and weak minded. You and Tengen had a good relationship, a strong one. He was perfect to you, and you loved him whole heartedly. Until you got pregnant.
He'd never mentioned children before. Never looked twice at the kids in the market you walked through. You'd always been too afraid to bring up the topic, not wanting to upset him or cause an argument.
So when you saw that positive pregnancy test, you knew you couldn't tell him. You were terrified and the only idea you had, that seemed somewhat reasonable at the time, was to run.
Now that you look back on it, it was stupid. He was a reasonable man, always communicated during struggles and stress. He'd never given you a reason to run, but you did anyway, and now you can't go back.
What you hadn't expected was for him to come find you. Despite renting out a rugged, low profile room in an inn, he still found you. Standing in your doorway looking distraught. You'd tried to explain, tried to justify yourself, but it was useless.
"You'd never even told me why..." We're the only words he followed up your intelligible rambling with. Quiet and hurt, you could feel it.
