Zayne was used to working long grueling hours at the hospital. It was something that he'd grown accustomed to being a cardiac surgeon for Akso hospital. But ever since you two started dating, he felt restless during his shifts, like he couldn't wait for them to be over so he could hurry back home to you.
The hours seemed to drag by, even on his busy shifts filled with multiple surgeries. All he wanted to do was come home and fall into your waiting arms and sink under the covers until the weight of his job didn't feel as exhausting.
Your job wasn't easy either, being a hunter and all. He knew how exhausting fighting wanderers could be and how much it took a toll on you mentally. He did his best to take care of you, which he loved doing.
One day, he came home after a long shift to find you sprawled out on the couch, TV on and blaring your favorite cartoon. You were surrounded by all of your plushies and covered in a big fluffy blanket.
A soft smile spread across his face as he took in the sight before him. He knew that you were likely in little space, and probably had been for a while. You usually slipped into this headspace when you were stressed or mentally exhausted, and lately, you'd been really stressed out.
He noticed the lack of snacks around you and it made worry tug at his chest. Had you eaten properly? Had you eaten anything today at all? He hadn't seen you for over 48 hours.. had you been taking proper care of yourself? If not, he was about to fix that.
He set his keys down on the counter before making his way over to you.
"Sweet girl, I'm home." He says as he steps into the living room. As soon as you saw him, you launched yourself into his arms, burying your face into his broad chest. After a few minutes, he pulled back and gave you a stern look.
"Little one, I want you to answer me honestly. Have you been good and eaten something today?" He asked as he gently lifts your chin up to look into your eyes, already knowing the answer but wanting to hear it from you first.
