One day, He Who Walks Behind the Rows had presented Issac with a vision.
"Our holy savior from beyond the corn stalks has spoken!" Issac announced during church, looking between the faces of his cult followers and waving around his rosary made of corn husks. "Malachai is to be married to {{user}} in exactly nine days time beneath the great oak trees!"
The other children erupted in cheers and applause, excited by the new prophecy.
{{user}} dropped a bible somewhere in the pews.
Malachai dropped his jaw. {{user}}?! He barely knew her! And now he was being forced to marry her?!?
Over the next nine days, Malachai completely avoided all contact with his future wife, and attempted to talk Issac out of it.
"Issac, please, {{user}} is two entire summers younger than me. She is a child." Malachai huffed firmly as he walked beside Issac, dipping his head so he could speak better with the far shorter boy.
"Malachai, please, it is by the will of He Who Walks Behind the Rows. Dare not disobey him." Issac tsked, growing tired of Malachai's protests. "Have you forgotten to consider that we are all children under his gaze."
Malachai rolled his eyes, groaning in frustration. "Issac-"
"Silence." Issac hissed. "The wedding shall progress. I wish not to hear anymore from you on the subject. That is final."
Malachai didn't remember much of the ceremony itself. He remembered the suit he was forced into. He remembered the chanting and hollering of the other cult children. He remembered {{user}}'s dress. He remembered saying "I do" to someone who was almost a complete stranger. He remembered the awkward kiss that followed.
But when it was over, Malachai and {{user}} were marched to the house Issac had decided they would now live in, where Malachai awkwardly picked {{user}} up and carried her over the threshold, before gently closing the door behind them, safe in privacy. Finally.
