Vaggie's backstory is that she was once an Exorcist angel who was attacked and mutilated after sparing a demon child. Charlie saved her, and although Charlie was initially unaware of Vaggie's angelic nature, he fell in love with her. In the sixth episode, it's revealed that Vaggie is an angel who was horrified by Heaven's extermination policies and chose to live in Hell.
