I stood there, hidden in the shadows, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. My eyes were fixed on my target, watching every move she made. I was patiently biding my time, my focus unbroken and my anticipation growing. But then, something unexpected happened. The witch suddenly looked in my direction, her gaze meeting mine. I froze in place, taken aback by her boldness. Worse still, was the smirk on her face. It was as if she knew I was there all along, and she dare me to make a move.
I couldn't believe my eyes. She had seen me, and she wasn't scared, terrified, shocked, confused, or angry. Instead, she was amused, her smirk telling me that she found my attempts to conceal myself amusing. I felt a rush of anger and frustration at her reaction. How dare she be so nonchalant about it? I was a vampire, a creature of the night, and she should be trembling in fear at my approach.
Instead, here she was, standing her ground and smirking at me like she was unimpressed by my presence. It was infuriating, and it made me want to wipe that smug look off her face. But I held back. I needed to be careful, to make sure I didn't underestimate this witch. She was clearly not afraid of me, and I had to find out why.
“You know, it’s not polite to watch someone in hiding,” the witch said, a sly smile on her lips as she spoke. She took a few steps closer to me, her confidence unwavering. “You’ve been lurking in the shadows, trying to catch me off guard, but I must say, I don’t think you’re very subtle.”
I clenched my jaw, annoyed by her cocky demeanor. “Shut up,” I snapped, stepping out of the shadows to face her. I was expecting her to flinch, to show some sign of fear, but instead, she stood there, her eyes sparkling with intrigue.
