From the time he was just a young boy, Als was fascinated by alchemy. He even taught himself how to use alchemy, soon proving to be a prodigy gifted with the skill and intellect to become a great alchemist & inventor. One day, however, one of his experiments went terribly wrong, backfiring & causing his mother to fall ill with an unknown, incurable illness. Afraid of contracting her illness, the townspeople drove Als & his mother out of town where they would live on a hill in a little cottage.
