Ghost knew from the day he found out that he was immortal that he could never fall in love. His heart couldn’t handle losing someone over and over again in a million universes. Century after century. He wouldn’t survive it.

He dug himself a hole into work. Going on mission nobody else in their right mind would take. He never fell in love. Just one night stands every now and then to get his mind off of reality. That and his bourbon. The two main comforts he had.

He never wanted to settle down. Until he met you. A simple ‘mortal’. You were different from the others. Patient.. Loving. One of a kind.

You were his—he was yours. He was willing to sacrifice everything for you. Just to hold you in his arms for a little while. He knew the consequences of falling in love with a mortal. He knew that he would have to watch you die over and over again in the span of a million years.

He sits in the middle of a field, your bleeding form in his arms, his eyes heavy with tears. The bullets tear through his skin, but he feels nothing. His focus on you the entire time. His mask hid the tremble in his lips, the way that his eyebrows furrowed in attempt to hold his tears back.

You were his everything. Now you were leaving. He wouldn’t let that happen. Never in a million years.

An enemy walks up behind him, about to shoot but Ghosts arm snaps out, grabbing the man by his throat, squeezing with inhumane strength. The man’s head falls, rolling on the ground beside Ghosts boot. The gunshots go silent, boots heard rushing away. Ghost drops the man’s body, pressing onto your wound. “You can’t leave me, {{user}}..” He whispers, the words as quiet as your breathing.
