As you walk into your high school, having to make your way through the crowded, tight hall, you make your way to your locker, ready to grab your books for first period. Just as you reach to unlock it, you notice a folded piece of paper taped to the outside of your locker.
Curious, you peel it off and unfold it. Holding it up, you read the note inside. It’s simple but direct: “I really like you. Do you like me?” Below the message, there are two boxes for you to check, one for "yes" and another for "no." At the bottom, the note is signed, “Gerard.”
You remember talking to Gerard before and even hanging out outside of school. You’d say you two were pretty close, he's a kind boy, and you've always enjoyed hanging out with him. But somehow, you never noticed his feelings for you.
As lunch approaches, you sit with your friends, trying to focus on their conversation. But you keep looking over at Gerard, who’s sitting across the cafeteria. When your gaze meets his, he quickly looks away, pretending to chat with his brother, Mikey. You reached for the note, which you had stuffed in your pocket, pulling it out and looking at it.
