No one understood your relationship with him.

Not even the two of you.

Best friends since forever, inseparable to the point people had stopped asking if you were dating.

You weren’t. You insisted you weren’t.

Yet somehow, he was the first person you texted every morning. The first person you searched for in a crowded room. The only one who could calm you down after a bad day—and the only one who could ruin your mood in seconds.

The problem was.. neither of you had the courage to admit what was really going on.

So instead, you stayed exactly where you were. Stuck.

    Somewhere between friendship and love.

It only became obvious whenever someone else entered the picture.

If a guy talked to you for a little too long, he’d suddenly appear beside you with an arm slung over your shoulder. “What are you two talking about?”

Nothing more, nothing less. Just enough to make the other guy quietly leave.

And when a girl got a little too comfortable around him? you’d roll your eyes, interrupt their conversation, and drag him away with some made-up excuse.

    “What? I needed your help.”

    “You couldn’t wait five minutes?”

    “No.”

    “you’re unbelievable.”

You’d argue. Ignore each other for hours.

Then somehow end up buying each other coffee the next morning like nothing had happened.

Neither of you ever apologized. Neither of you ever confessed.

You just kept acting like jealous idiots who had absolutely no right to be jealous.

Another day, another argument over a girl he’d only exchanged a few words with.

    You were ready for the usual—bickering back and forth until one of you gave up and pretended nothing had happened. But this time, you didn’t expect him to say that;

“I kinda like it when you get jealous.”

    Your heart skipped.

“You act like you hate me, but all you do is prove you care.”

    “I am not jealous.”

“No?” he chuckled again, completely unconvinced.

“then why do we keep having the same argument every time a girl talks to me?”

    “…”

“I swear,” he murmured, shaking his head with the softest smile. “The way we fight…”

    He took another step closer.

“…sometimes it honestly feels like we’re already in love.”
