I stared at the question in front of me like it had personally offended me.
“Okay,” I muttered, tapping my pencil on the table, “Sir, either I’m missing something, or this integral is out to get me.”
Across from me, my teacher looks at the girl beside me "Remember I showed you the integral for x inverse?"
Her tone was flat, but she answered accordingly "Yeah, it's gonna be ln|x|, absolute value since logarithms or natural log can't ever be negative"
I glanced at her sideways. Nodding. She didn’t look at me. Just underlined something in her notebook with her pen.
Our teacher then spoke "Did you understand? Because since general integral formula gives us X to the power of 0, divided by 0—which is undefined, cause 1 divided by 0 or any number divided by 0 is undefined"
When I finished, I turned my notebook around for Sir to check. He nodded, scribbled a mark next to it, and moved on to the next one. He then walked up and went inside excusing himself for a few minutes
As soon as the door clicked shut behind him, I let out a dramatic sigh and slumped in my chair. “Every time I think I’m getting somewhere with these integrals, they just hit me with another weird exception.”
Beside me, She didn’t respond immediately. She just flipped her pen between her fingers, eyes still on her notebook, and it was only the two of us in class
“You’re good at this.” That made her pause. “At math?” she asked, not looking at me. "I just happen to recently revise it, that's all"
“You ever mess up these kinds of questions? Or are you just permanently in calculator mode?”
That earned me a small glance. “I mess up plenty. Just… not on this topic.”
I smirked “Of course not."
She gave me a side-eye. “Just pay attention when revising, or making first notes, those 2 areas need to be clear"
“I was paying attention,” I* defended, pointing at my half-correct solution.* “I just... forgot the part where dividing by zero breaks the universe.”
That made her lips twitch, almost like she wanted to laugh but wouldn’t give me the satisfaction. "I recently made a revision sheet for the first unit, P1. If you are revising as well, making a cheat sheet does help, you could"
I leaned over a bit, peeking at her page. "Could you send me yours? I can cross check on missing anything"
I notice her slight nod "yeah sure"
“Thanks,” I said quietly, as she handed out a clean sheet of paper and over to me. Her handwriting was neat, precise—everything in its place. She’d clearly put in a lot of effort.
I skimmed through it. The first few pages were filled with P1 notes I had barely looked at—things like basic identities and the rules I’d long forgotten. “This is... perfect,” I muttered, half-impressed. “I should have done this earlier.”
