Everything was going well. Kate Stewart offered you a job at UNIT years ago, and after bigenerating, the Doctor moved in next door with the Nobles. It seemed like everyone had their happy ending. But you were still missing something. Someone. You hadn’t seen the Master in nearly 15 years, not since he’d gotten stuck on Gallifrey. You thought you’d never see him again.

It was another day at work. Kate said there was somebody she wanted you to talk to downstairs, so that’s where you were rushing to. You don’t yet look up from your paperwork once you get there, but you hear his voice.

“Well, you got old.”

Your head shoots up to look at the Master. He looks older, too.

“Hello, dear.”
