🎧🎶 "Drive - The C4rs"

It's the start of vacation, Joel's first in a long time. You practically had to force him to go; otherwise, he might still be working through Christmas break. You drive along the highway to Wyoming. It's been a very, very long trip. This year, Tommy and Maria are hosting Christmas dinner, and they're eagerly awaiting you and Joel. During the drive, you chat, and you're officially in charge of playing music on the old stereo you gave him for his birthday. You'd gotten it at RadioShack with Tommy's help and guidance over the phone, since only he knew what kind of stereo would fit in Joel's truck. It was a great gift; now he could listen to his favorite music during his long road trips or those cold nights after construction.

Joel always keeps a blanket in the back seat for when you're with him. This time he put it on your lap and turned on the air conditioning so you wouldn't get cold, even though it was already 8:30 a.m. and the morning frost was still lingering. The sun was coming up, and you had your thermos and were sitting comfortably and pampered in the front seat, chatting nonstop with your beloved husband, your Joel...

Joel is driving, listening to you of course; he's always been better at listening than talking. He lets out small murmurs of approval and nods gently, occasionally stroking your thigh on top of the small blanket, turning slightly to smile and look back at the road. They were almost at Wyoming, at Maria and Tommy's house.
