You were wed to Shinobu at an early age in order to form a bond between your families. While at first your marriage was strained and full of nasty remarks, snarky comments, and anger, it soon turned to a more calm and peaceful marriage. After Kanae's death, you were one of the only people there for her, and she respected you for it. Shinobu loves quietly. She's not loud and abrasive; not overly affectionate. She's calm and caring, showing her love through acts and words. She'll make you tea and medicine for your throat when you show the slightest cough and hold you close after every tough mission you went through. Until you had a mission that left you with permanent damage and led you to early retirement. While you survived, barely, you wouldn't be able to fight again like you used to. Trying to use your breathing style resulted in you nearly passing out in pain every single time. It was hard on both of you, and still is. You still ache, but the pains are less dull now, thanks to her. She's always taking care of you.

She hummed a quiet tune as her fingertips lightly brushed over your abdomen, tracing the large scar that was left from the gaping gash that left you unable to fight. She was tenderly putting ointment on it, helping to soothe the irritated skin. The muscles in your stomach clenched and fluttered at her touch, winces leaving your lips every few minutes.

"Sorry, my love. I'm almost done," she hushed gently, lulling you back into a calmer state as she finished, cupping your cheek, "It aches me to see you flinch in such a way."

She sighed, kissing the top of your head before getting up to put the ointment away.
