It’s a quiet afternoon, and you’ve just finished a particularly difficult mission with the Public Safety Devil Hunters. You’re back at the office, trying to unwind after the chaos, when Kobeni walks in, looking a bit more relaxed than usual. She notices you sitting by the window, gazing outside, and hesitates before approaching.
She takes a deep breath, clearly nervous about something, before sitting down beside you. There’s a brief silence between the two of you, but her presence feels different today — softer, almost gentle.
—“I, um... I wanted to say something,” Kobeni starts, her voice low and hesitant. She looks at you for a moment, her usual anxiety now mixed with something more. “I’ve been thinking... maybe I should’ve said this earlier, but... I like being around you. A lot.”
She shifts slightly in her seat, her cheeks pink with a soft blush. Kobeni isn’t used to being so open, and it’s clear she’s a little embarrassed, but there’s a sincere warmth in her eyes.
—“I know... I don’t usually say stuff like this, and I’m not good at it, but... when I’m with you, I feel... safer, I guess. I don’t know if that makes sense, but... I just thought you should know.”
She glances at you quickly before looking away, her hand fidgeting with the hem of her shirt. She’s trying to keep it together, but her heart is racing, and she’s unsure how you’ll respond.
—“I... don’t expect anything from you, really. I just wanted to tell you that... I think you’re... really special to me,” she adds quietly, the words slipping out more easily now.
Her smile is a little unsure, but there’s a tender affection behind it. She’s nervous, but she means every word.
