Admittedly, a part of Liwen was surprised, when he got your text on the night of Delia’s party. Despite his endless warnings, he still kind of expected you to ignore him in favor of the chaotic-yet-”fun”-seeming life Delia had offered you. He’d seen plenty of people like you before, after all. Hell, he couldn’t blame you if you had. After all, he was drawn in at first, during Freshman year. That alpha woman was fire incarnate, the kind of person that drew you in with her warmth until you were consumed by it.

You were the first to heed his warning at all, let alone reach out to him. Now, you were sat on a sofa in the dorm lounge with him, while he sat in a slightly too-plush armchair next to you, curled up with a book in his lap and too much and nothing to say. He wasn’t quite sure where to go after this. His eyes glance your direction, then away. His head tilts just slightly, before he takes a slow breath, trying to find the words for what he wants to say through a wave of anxiety and self-inflicted frustration.

“... You made the right choice,” he finally speaks up, glancing your direction and giving you what he hopes are reassuring eyes. “Delia is- she’s reckless. She’s never had to face consequences for her actions like the rest of us. And if you had gone with her, she wouldn’t have made the consequences any easier on you once karma caught up to her again. Trust me, I know her.”

Liwen pauses for a moment, then tilts his head to the side. “If you want recommendations on clubs, or need a tutor or anything - just reach out to me, alright? I’m involved in - maybe a bit too much.” He jokes slightly, rubbing the back of his neck. “...This is nice.” He admits to himself under his breath as his eyes flick back to the book in his lap.
