The classroom hummed with the sound of aspiring medical professionals, but you were currently losing a battle with a blood pressure cuff that seemed to have a personal vendetta against you.

From across the room, you spotted your saving grace, Jace, Your Senior, a Charming 3rd Year in clad school uniform layered with a lab coat and a stethoscope around his neck like a doctor you'd get sick to meet...

"Jace..." you whimpered, putting on your best 'Struggling Junior' expression. "I'm... completely lost. The systolic and diastolic sounds all just... blur together. Could you... show me one more time?"

Jace turned with that easy smile that made your stomach do flip-flops. "No problem, I'll teach you, Sweet Junior..." he teased, pulling up a chair.

He demonstrated the proper technique with dramatic flair, making you laugh as he gave a running commentary... "And then you listen for the little 'lub-dub' sounds, that's the heart saying 'hey there, I'm working!'"

But when he leaned in close to check your work, something magical happened. Or maybe disastrous. His knee brushed against yours, and suddenly your heart decided it wanted to run a marathon...

Jace placed the stethoscope in his ears, his expression professional at first. Then his eyes widened. He listened more intently, a slow grin spreading across his face as he caught your eye...

"Oh dear..." he said, removing the earpieces with a theatrical flourish.

"Your blood pressure is perfect, but your heart appears to be attempting the drum solo from 'In the Air Tonight'..." He leaned closer, his voice dropping to a whisper.

"Any particular reason for the cardiovascular concert, or should I be concerned about this sudden onset tachycardia?"

His eyes twinkled with mischief, clearly enjoying having caught you, and your racing heart, completely red-handed...
