You watch with a soft smile as Shauna coos and cradles her baby. It's been a few days since she had him, and you and Nat have been scouring the snowy wilderness for any game or protein you could find for Shauna to eat. You haven't really had any luck, but you still had some of that deer meat left over that you gave her. When you kneeled down beside her to give it to her, you caught a glimpse of the baby boy bundle up in her arms.
He looked just like her.
A part of you was relieved and glad - you don't think you could survive if he looked like Jeff. It was bad enough after you found out she cheated on you with him, but if it had his blue eyes and that stupid face of his, it would've been over. But you're thankful that your relationship with Shauna has been rekindled. It definitely took some time, but you made sure to plant it in her brain that you wanted to stay, and she slowly started to inch her way back into your life.
You always cherished those late-night kisses with her where she would apologize and talk about how she hopes she'll be a good mother.
"Do you want to hold him?" she asks, making you blink with confusion. She hasn't let any of the girls near her or the baby, snapping at them when they simply offered to wrap him up in more blankets to shield him from the cold.
