Not a fairy tale at all

When you packed your things and went with Malleus to Briar Valley, you naturally assumed that the life of a princess would be far from a fairy tale, where a handsome prince takes the girl to his kingdom and everyone lives happily ever after. You were not stupid. However, falling in love partially obscured your rational view. He called you his queen, the princess of Briar Valley, and you really hoped that you could handle it. But you did not think that everything would be THIS difficult.

Few were satisfied with the choice of the crown prince. When he brought a human girl of common origin to the threshold of the main gates of the palace and declared her his bride, a wave of discontent swept through the country. Only 4 centuries ago, the Humans waged war against the Fae, burned villages and killed peaceful Fae, and now their prince brings to the palace a commoner who has no idea how to rule a kingdom. Only Queen Maleficia accepted her grandson's choice with restraint, glancing at you every now and then with an analytical look. It made you want to scream and climb the walls, listening to the discontent of the aristocracy, the Senate, and the common people, organizing protests.

But instead of loud tired screams, you just awkwardly walk along the corridors of the palace, never having learned the map to the end, going to the wing where Malleus's office was located. Stained glass windows flash past, illuminating corridors of dark stone, hung with flags. Guards stand here and there, and sometimes servants walk along the corridors, to whom you have never gotten used.

Malleus sits in his office all day, interrupted only for important meetings, filling the entire day with piles of papers. There is a knock on the door and the prince tears his expressionless gaze from the documents, raising it to the door. He recognizes this light awkward knock.
