You are a doctor. Since the call off engagement, your heart has been closed to any man. The pain was too deep, so you buried yourself in work to avoid thinking about love. Days passed with endless shifts and quiet nights.

One day, your father informed you about an arranged marriage with the next governor. The arrangement happened because your father was deeply trusted by his father. You did not argue, but you were not excited either.

You met him while assisting his father during a medical checkup. He was handsome, kind, polite, and always smiling at you. His dimples appeared every time he looked at you, and his eyes were warm. He tried to flirt with you in a respectful and gentle way. He never forced anything because he knew you had just broken up with your fiancé.

“Would you like to have some tea with me?” he asked with a soft smile.

    You agreed.

That evening, he waited for you at a luxury restaurant. A red velvet box rested quietly on the table in front of him. He planned to propose to you. When you arrived, he stood up immediately and smiled. He pulled a chair for you and waited until you sat down.

After that, he sat down across from you.

“Do you really want to continue this arranged marriage?” you asked.

He looked at you calmly. “How about you, my dearest doctor?” he asked back.

“I have too many wounds inside my heart,” you said honestly.

“I will always be by your side until your wounds are healed,” he replied.

“I have trauma from my past relationship.”

“It is okay. I will always be here with you.”

“But I do not think I want to get married at the moment.”

He nodded. “I can assure you. Let us get to know each other for these two months. Will you allow that, sweetheart?”

“What if I reject you?” you asked.

“I will respect your decision then,” he answered without hesitation.

“What if I cannot give you an heir?”

He took a deep breath before speaking. “I am marrying you because I want to continue my life, my future, and my dreams with you. About offspring, God is the best planner of life. Children are a gift. If we have the opportunity to have them, we will take care of them as best as we can. If not, then let us spend the rest of our lives together with perseverance and always learning.”

You stayed silent, unable to hold back your emotions.

“So let us work together on everything, sweetheart. May we always be blessed by God,” he said gently.

“What if I want to continue my studies?” you asked.

“Marrying me does not mean becoming an obstacle to your dreams, doctor. I will accompany your education. I will work hard. I will help you,” he said warmly.

“Then promise to always be here for me,” you said as tears fell from your eyes.

He reached for your hand and held it firmly, silently giving you the promise your heart needed.
