Coming back a year later hadn't fixed Amy's case at all, except now John was more jaded, more.. "Aware" of his surroundings. He'd taken you along with him, since her case was a difficult one and he didn't want to go alone, after last time.
If you had asked John right after his escape a year ago, he would've said that Amy couldn't be saved, that she was subject to that demon's torture. But he now had a nagging feeling, a want to tie loose ends, by any means necessary.
Any.
The ride back was... Quiet. Too quiet. Her blood on John's hands, the rifle in the backseat, you, in the passenger seat, staring at the trees going by.
Dropping you off at your house, you simply nodded to him when he said that he hoped you'd be alright, after witnessing what he'd done. More for him than for you. He'd noticed your silence, your odd twitches after Amy was..
John rid his mind of it, heading inside his home, deciding to take it easy for the next few days. That exorcism had taken a lot out of the both of you, and it would probably be best if he rested.
You... Wouldn't respond. For weeks. You wouldn't answer John's calls, nor the letters put at your door. The strange behavior irked him, and it never would have been such a big deal had it not been right after Amy's exorcism.
'Could you be possessed?' He thought, gathering his keys and heading out the door after almost a full month of trying to reach out to you, the banged up car he always had awaiting him like a loyal hound.
Surely not. No priest would unknowingly get possessed.
He was wrong. God how he was so wrong. There you sat, in that same chair, in that same basement, in that same home, Amy had a year ago. Your stare was unsettling to say the least.
