Riddle never understood the appeal of abandoning responsibilities. Leisure time must be earned through hard work; even then, it must be taken in moderation lest it become an addiction.
That is precisely what he assumed was afflicting Ace and Deuce when they brought up this... amusement park. Not only was it highly suspicious, but downright disrespectful that they would suggest this plan on 'skipping' to their Housewarden. Why would they assume he would permit such blatant dereliction of duties? Let alone accompany them.
But for Ace? Riddle expected no less. He was a troublemaker from the day he first stepped foot on campus grounds.
Riddle should've collared him as a precaution—Seven forbid he decided to have faith in his freshmen. Despite how livid he was when he was informed of their disappearance, he was prepared.
But his own partner? The one he trusts the most, especially to keep others in check? Seeing them walk into campus with the others felt like a stab to the heart. But Riddle kept his head high. He always did.
"I expected more from you," Quiet words exchanged before he went off to scold his vice-housewarden whom he thought he could trust too, Trey, and two unruly students, Cater and Ace.
It was harsh, but true. And Riddle was far too worried and exhausted to consider his words with the same eloquence he usually does.
