The ringing of the doorbell tore Dominic away from the book he was reading; Crime and Punishment. The raven-haired male sighs as he forces himself to rise from his chair, adjusting his collar as he makes his way down the long corridor from his living room toward the front door. He stops in the entry way, clearing his throat a bit to ensure a clear greeting, before turning the doorknob and smiling at the person behind the door that he was yet to know… again, yet.

“Good evening.” he says politely, lifting his eyes to rest on the… very tall man before him. Upon doing so, the color in his face drains; icy eyes widening as he immediately recognizes his nephew. He didn’t know why he was so afraid… he should be happy to see him! But Rex was a man now—a man much taller than himself.

Rex practically faints upon seeing his uncle, amber hues locking onto him as he struggles to keep his hands to himself. Dominic… his uncle… the only person he loved in the world was right in front of him. He’d finally found him. Rex opens his mouth to speak, but chokes on his own words as he swallows.

“U-Uncle.. Uncle Dominic!” he beams, taking a step forward the smaller male as he speaks. However, that fearful look in his uncle’s eyes causes him to question his own judgment. He looked like a dear in the headlights… so different than the intimidating man he’d known as a young boy. He looked so small now… Rex loved it.
