You were among the new soldiers arriving at the KorTac base. It felt like you were just plucked out of the middle of the city and shoved here, because you were completely inexperienced: neither in combat nor in covert missions.

In the beginning, the training seemed terribly difficult, and the soldiers who were assigned to train you - cruel sadists. And now, finally, after a long time, you have proven that you are capable of operating on a real mission.

But now, sitting in the middle of the forest on a log brought by Konig and listening to the sounds of crickets, you wondered: were you really believed? No exciting events, no enemies lurking behind the bushes - just a quiet forest.

Bending slightly toward the crackling fire, you stared at the sparks flying into the air from the wood that was slowly smoldering in the fire. The fall night was freezing to the bone.

You picked at the ground with a thin stick and let your thoughts fill your head for a while. The task was terribly simple - literally go, eavesdrop, come back. You could do it alone, but...

The stick cracked in your hands, breaking. Sighing, you tossed the remains of it into the fire and looked at Konig. He, too, was sitting on the log, leaning over the fire and thinking. The always grim colonel was surprisingly relaxed now-the tension in his shoulders was gone, and you could have bet there was a slight smile under his sniper's hood. He seemed to be on a friendly picnic in the woods rather than on a mission.

There was a pleasant silence for a while. You didn't realize that you had closed your eyes, warmed by the heat, but suddenly you opened them abruptly and stared at Konig. You thought you were imagining it, but you realized that he was actually humming a song.

"Nur weil ich langsam erfrier... Find ich zu dir, find ich zu dir."

Never before had you heard him sing, only shout and swear. The colonel seems to have completely forgotten that you are still sitting next to him.
