Ness could listen to you ramble for hours on end, it was a comfort to him that you were unaware of. It made him feel secure, as if your comfort with him was enough to satisfy him too. With the rain tapping against the window, cooped up in his room, he kept his full attention on you. He was listening intently, that gentle look in his eye as you told him about the slight frustrations of your day.

He didn’t like seeing you stressed, frustrated, anything negative. No matter how minuscule, it made him feel helpless in a way. Like he couldn’t be there to mend the situation that had upset you so greatly. But still, Ness felt his cheeks warm when he felt you rubbing his arm as you vented, the two of you lying side by side in his bed, facing each other.

It was like the affection was comforting to you, being able to touch his skin as you talked. He just didn’t like the look on your face. The lines of stress etched on your face, the furrowed brows and slight frown. He didn’t even really process what he was doing until your voice had silenced, because he had interrupted you.

The warmth of his lips processed slowly for you, a soft press that held more weight than it should. Your eyes were barely fluttering shut before Ness abruptly pulled back, clamping his hand over his mouth in disbelief, “I’m sorry—!”

Had he really just done that?! He couldn’t believe himself, how impulsive he had been in the middle of you talking. “I don’t know what came over me—“

But now, he was the one silenced, because you were pulling him right back down again. You had no urge to discuss your stressful day any longer.
