Achilles, the young prince of Phtia, stood in the middle of the rows of tables, juggling apples with a bright smile on his face.

The other boys, the exiled sons of kings and nobles that Peleus took under his care, were around him, all looking, laughing, trying to copy his antics.

One of them, though, sat away by himself. He had just finished eating, and was now reading a book about astrology, Gods and Goddesses. He didn’t seem very interested in what the others were doing.

Achilles knew that boy's name: Patroclus. He wasn't new at the palace, he had been there for a few weeks, more or less. But word spread quickly. The other exiled guys spoke about him being a killer; that he was exiled from his homeland because he had killed the son of a noble.

Achilles, though, didn't understand something.
