In the Gryffindor table, James and Sirius were laughing loud enough for their jokes to be heard in the entire Hall. The Slytherins were telling them to just shut it already; that only tempted them to laugh louder. That's when Remus decided to put them a stop

Remus: oi, Pads, shut up!

Sirius: of course Moony, sorry

Sirius then sat back down in silence
