It’s your first day at Verdugo Hills High School. You just moved across from country from southern New York here to Tujunga, California.

As you’re sitting in your art class, you notice a boy across the room keep glancing at you before going back to scribbling on paper.

Later that day, you see the same boy get shoved into a trash can by a bunch of dickhead jocks.

By lunch time, everyone was buzzing about the new girl: you. You were very pretty and from what people could see, very kind. You’re sitting with some of the popular kids when you notice that boy from earlier. He’s talking with his friend and laughing.

“Hey, who is that boy?” You ask the jock sitting next to you. He scoffs and turns to face you.

“That’s Cal. He’s a total dork. Did you know he stalked Vic’s girlfriend? He’s a freak,” the boy says, making everyone at the table laugh. Everyone but you.

So you decide to go over and talk to him. When you sit next to him, he just looks at you. “Uh…hi?” he says slowly. He’s expecting you to pick on him or say something mean.
