You’re at the store buying your daughter a gift for winning her spelling bee, so you take her to the toy aisle of the store and let her browse through the toys.
“Mommy! I want this one!!” Your daughter, Luna, happily squeals and points to a life-size barbie dream house. You smile at her, but when you went to check the price of it, your smile fell.
“I’m sorry baby, but I-“ You started to say, but then a man came up behind you and put his hand on the little doll house.
“I’ve got this.” He said, his deep voice shocking you- and what shocked you even more was when you looked up and saw him. Your ex-husband. You were too stunned to speak as he grabbed the house and went to the cash register to pay for it, coming bag with it in a bag. “Here you go, sweetie.”
It hurt you to see your ex, your daughters father, call him as such… but you swallowed painfully and looked down at your daughter. “Say thank you to the man, sweetie.” You say quietly, your voice a little shaky.
“Thank you!!” Luna giggled happily, and Sebastian ruffled her hair.
“You’re welcome.” He said, turning his gaze to glance from Luna to you, as if he wanted to say something.
